What Goes Around

It really amazes me how, like fashion, popular design elements from decades ago find their niche again in interiors. Like wallpaper. I cringe at the memory of my wallpapered bedroom as a child. Never in my lifetime would I ever put wallpaper up in my own house. Or so I thought. You don't need me to tell you what a comeback it's made over the last year or so.
In case it isn't glaringly obvious I'm really into the black and charcoal walls. I'd love to experiment with this especially in the powder room envisioning something along the lines of this or even this. And what better place to hang some black wallpaper than the powder room, knocking out both my need to cover walls in black and my need to use wallpaper?
These are some of my favorites:

Drape Myself in Velvet

I've always had my eye on this charcoal velvet couch from ZGallerie. I'd probably lounge around naked on this baby, it's THAT good.

I've been envisioning a gray velvet couch in our "formal" living room ever since. Only it won't be so formal, since I'm not that kind of gal. One to prop myself up on with a House Beautiful and a good view into the neighborhood street. And since the ZGallerie beauty isn't quite in my price range, I'm thinking this more affordable and totally adorable Nate Berkus for HSN might be finding it's way to the Gebber.

Oh, and to any potential house guests, I was just kidding about lounging around naked in my formal living room. So don't be afraid of the velvet couch.

And some gray velvet couch images via Flickr to get you in the mood:

Okay, so it's not gray, but I looooove it. From the home of super talented Lauren of Pure Style Home.

Oh, Hello!

Hmm, I've been out of commission for quite some time.

You see, we were supposed to be settled nicely into our "estate" in November, but things happen. We'll be there shortly and I promise to have some progress updates in the very near future.

Until then, here are some VERY random inspiration favorites as of late.

Glamorous

Maybe I should start the new year off by doing something out of character. Ditch the dining room rug and drape some luxurious fabric over the table. So very glamorous, so very not me.
