Obligatory Red Carpet Review

I can't really get into the actual award show, but rarely do I miss the pre-show red carpet. I love award season. So while the fashion blog world will be crawling with the red carpet reviews, I can't help but squeeze in the red carpet review post as well.

Overall I wasn't wooed by any one's dress in particular. And I was getting SO ANNOYED with all the hoo-ha over Lea Michelle's navy Oscar de la Renta. She looked pretty, sure, but she didn't quite make my list of favorites.

Rose Byrne:
Call me Rachel Zoe, but I loooove, love, love white on the red carpet. And she nailed it. Waaay better than the tragedy that was Kim Kardashian (sorry).

Anna Paquin:

It's a little funky, and I like funky. I feel like she was the only one on the red carpet who took a risk!


Eva Longoria Parker:
I can't recall ever seeing her in black. I like this. She looks elegant, not oversexed as per usual.


And for the worst-dressed?

While I was super disappointed in January Jones' blue Versace, my face actually wrinkled up in disgust at Julia Louis-Dreyfus' peek-a-boo blunder. Yes, she has a rockin' bod, but it's not age appropriate and I'm pretty sure I've this on her before. Even my husband said, "I'm serious, I actually think she wore that dress once." And her jewelry is ugly, too.

I've declared my undying love for the chevron pattern ad nauseum, but another print I hope never dies is the ikat:
I'm thinking some navy ikat curtains would be a nice change in the family room.

Laundry Solution

Our laundry "room" is a closet in the upstairs hallway. While super convenient, when doing the laundry I have to keep the doors open which block the entire hallway. It sort of annoys me.

Taking the doors off and hanging pretty curtains seems like the perfect solution, don't you think?

Sunny Side Up

When we built our house the number one thing we agreed on was the addition of a sun room off the kitchen. While I do love our sun room, I can't help but find it a little dysfunctional. We have a small rectangular table that seems to crowd the space and blocks the sliding glass doors. It's the one room in the house I can't get to my satisfaction.

I *think* I'm set on building in a window seat on one wall and setting up a small dining table off to that side. Some drawers underneath could house a towel to wipe down baby dog's paws when he comes in.

Or maybe some sort of wicker sectional to cozy up the area.
And then there's all those windows. It is a sunroom, right? So I'm thinking of keeping them free of treatments, but these roman shades may be a little hard to resist.

Any suggestions?

Three Years

It's our three year wedding anniversary today. Usually we'd be on vacation this time of the year, but since I got a house for Valentine's Day and a new deck for my birthday it wasn't going to happen this time. Celebrating at the Gebber instead!

Envy

Green is my favorite color and I would love to paint a room green, but I am positively terrified. I'm afraid it'll come out too 70s avocado, or too froggy, or, if I go the turquoise root, too much blue. Hoping these images can help erase my fears.
